St Nectans is a privately run home, registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection and the East Sussex Care Homes Association. As an Approved Provider you can relax knowing you have chosen the very best in quality care when you choose St Nectans.
The philosophy of St Nectans is "Service and Quality without Compromise" and the comfort and health of each resident is our ultimate priority. This is reflected through the genuine warmth, dedication and experience of our highly trained management and staff. We aim to provide the highest standard of 24-hour care available. Residents are free to get up and go to bed as they please with our staff on hand, trained to treat all residents with the greatest respect and care.
The emphasis at St Nectans is to ensure that the quality of care and attention compliments the happy atmosphere to give you total peace of mind. We always remember it's your home. You may have visitors in your room at anytime during the day, and they are invited to enjoy complimentary refreshments whilst visiting.
We understand the concerns and initial anxiety of moving into a care home and are always there to listen, striving to make life easier for residents and their family. We are proud to be providers of a comfortable home with private single rooms. The policy of the home is to allow residents to bring with them their own personal effects, including furniture and pictures. The social opportunities, the home cooked wholesome nourishing food (catering for individual tastes), and the pleasant surroundings all contribute to encouraging a healthy and contented lifestyle.
We at St Nectans know that the thought of moving into care home can often be very traumatic for both residents and relatives but that it is sometimes the only option available in order to maintain personal safety, security and provide appropriate levels of care. Prior to admission, each new resident is encouraged to visit the home to satisfy themselves that the ambience is to their liking
We provide a unique care and support plan that works for each individual. The first thing we do when we hear from a new client is get to know person's life history, likes, dislikes and, of course, their medical history to help us understand their unique needs. Using these information we develop an individual profile and plan of care. We encourage and support people to continue doing as many daily tasks as possible, pursue their interests and hobbies, stay active and spend quality time with family and friends.
We will ensure that we work with you and your family, friends, advocates and other professionals involved in your life in gathering all the information we need to make sure we can meet your needs.
We are conveniently located overlooking the sea, close to the main shopping area in Bexhill-on-Sea. The main railway station is also nearby with easy access to the local medical centre and all other local social and religious amenities.
We believe that social and leisure aspects of life are an integral part of care, which should be all about achieving maximum independence and helping people to have some fun!
As our Philosophy of Care is to look at the 'Whole Person' and not just part of a person. It is so important to identify each person individually in order to bring the right benefits for them. This can be achieved when having awareness of the following:
The term residential care refers to the delivery of personal care within a residential setting. It is for those who can no longer manage living on their own even with assistance from home care agencies or relatives. Residents can expect 24 hour assistance with washing & bathing; dressing, getting in and out of bed, eating meals, using the bathroom, taking medication, making drinks and snacks, and more.
Nursing care is the same in its approach as residential care, with the additional benefit of round-the-clock assistance from a qualified nurse. Those who have spent long periods in hospital are usually assessed as needing nursing care. Each resident who requires our Nursing Care Service benefits from the same in-home facilities available to the Residential residents. The fees charged in nursing homes are usually higher than those in residential homes; however the NHS makes a nominal contribution towards these fees for the nursing aspect of the care provided.
Respite care is available for individuals who need short term care for between one to four weeks to enable a full time carer to have a rest or holiday, or in the event that the carer themselves becomes ill temporarily. Some care homes have rooms specifically reserved for respite care; other homes only offer this service if there is a vacant room available. Respite care can be provided as a one off stay or for more frequent stays.
The term "dementia" is used to describe the symptoms that occur when the brain is affected by specific diseases and conditions. Symptoms include loss of memory, confusion, problems with speech and understanding and differ from person to person.
St Nectan's is a five-star care home. At each visit I felt that everyone from care manager, care team, catering team and activities coordinator were working together tirelessly to make the residents feel safe, secure, cared for and to the highest standard. They were all taking the time to fully understand my granddad's personal needs. Their focus was on maintaining his dignity, supporting his physical and mental health. I noticed there was always compassion and a smile on their faces. The communal areas were clean and hygienic. During the two and a half years my granddad resided he benefited from lovely new carpet, new comfortable armchairs, high quality wall decorations. He had lovely times in the garden and even occasional walks by the nearby seaside. Could not be happier with St Nectan's. Especially how they managed during challenging times in COVID.
We looked at many homes in Bexhill-on-Sea for our friend/neighbour when she was left alone after her husband's demise but St Nectans Residential home was exceptional right from the start. All the staff are amazing, kind and so helpful in every way possible. Residents' health and well-being are monitored day and night without fail. Daily activities are so well organised and a lot of fun and my friend has enjoyed that very much. In the 12 weeks that she has been in her new forever home she has gained weight (after losing weight due to bereavement and illness). The meals are absolutely wonderful and so well presented and very nutritious. We are always welcome every time we visit, whatever time of day that is. Meals are a very important part of life whatever age but this home surpasses all expectations. A very bright and exceptionally clean home with beautiful sea views and massive rooms with en-suites. St Nectans turns out to be the best choice we all made.
The staff at St Nectans have always taken the utmost care of my aunty. My aunt has been a resident for nearly two years and has received nothing but great kindness from the staff. The manager and all the staff have ensured that my aunt is well looked after. As I live up in the North of England, it could have been difficult to visit very often but they have done all they can to ensure that I am included in all dealings with my aunt and am well informed of anything I need to know. I visited St Nectans 3 times so far and recently visited in August 2023 and each time confirmed the opinion I already had - this is a great care home with brilliant staff who do all they can to ensure their residents are well-cared for with an excellent location of a minute's walk from Bexhill station, works for me! Many thanks to everyone at St Nectans Bexhill.
My relative went to stay at St Nectans Residential Care Home for two weeks respite, and I have got to say the overall experience was better than I imagined. All the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much. The care my relative received was excellent, he always looked very clean and well presented, the food looked lovely. The management team were very approachable and friendly. The atmosphere in the whole home was just great. I would strongly recommend St Nectans Residential Care Home to anyone who was looking for respite or to place an elderly relative there long term.
